As PAC continues to grow, we are expanding our team and seeking a Senior Aircraft Simulation Software Engineer. The position will be based in Atlanta (GA), Boise (ID), St. Louis (MO), Dallas Fort-Worth (TX) or Phoenix (AZ), with remote working an option for the right candidate.

As a Subject Matter Expert, assignments will vary, but will include the following responsibilities:

  • Modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications related to avionics and aircraft systems (aerodynamics model, navigation, autoflight, propulsion, and maintenance).
  • Participating in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software.
  • Providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees.
  • Managing complex projects at a senior engineer level, involving delegation and review of work products.
  • Conducting continuous improvement to systems and processes in order to improve performance of job area.
  • Performing technical planning, systems integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Conducting cost, risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Ensure logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into a total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related area.
  • 6 years of prior relevant engineering experience, or a graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related engineering experience.
  • Experience with new development and updating and refactoring existing software.
  • Experience with system testing concepts, performance issues, and testing optimization.
  • Experience with C++.
  • Experience with various scripting languages (Python, etc).
  • 1 year of prior experience leading a team of software engineers.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Able to work shift work and travel when required – locally and nationally

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Dev-ops methodology, tools, architecture.
  • Experience with real-time simulation based products.
  • Experience with cloud computing and hardware virtualization.
  • Experience with system administration of Uni/Linux Operating Systems.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of software architecture.
  • Experience with Visual Studio or comparable Integrated Development Environment.
  • Experience with Subversion, Git or comparable source control platforms.
  • Development knowledge in Windows. Experience with UNIX environment a plus.
